Briefly describe your adult soccer experience.Played women’s soccer on Kauai for a year before it disappeared, then when I moved to SD and started to play again at 47.
How did you hear about a women's soccer league in your area? What made you decide to play women's soccer?Internet. I have coached soccer for 15 years & love the sport.
What are the names of the leagues you play in and how often do you play each week in those leagues?Allied, POL, Pennisula= once a week each but may play multiple games same day, and tournament teams.
Do you participate in tournaments? If yes, which ones and how often? If not, explain why.Yes. Friendship twice a year, local tournaments, Senior games in St. George Utah and more that I can pick up.
What is your most memorable moment as a woman soccer player?When I broke my arm blocking and making the save, from a shot from a 30 year old male, securing the win, on Kauai in June 2017!
Besides being a player, how have you been involved in youth and/or adult soccer, either personally or professionally? Examples include coaching, referee work and organizing or managing a league.Referee and referee assignee, high school and club coach, town manager, coach instructor, scheduler, commissioner....
If you have a child/children, did/do s/he/they play soccer?All 3 of my children have played.
If you have a partner, did/does s/he play adult soccer?I have a partner and he does not play.
How has playing adult soccer changed your life, whether on a small scale or in a more powerful way?I love the comrade of the women, keeps me active and healthy in a positive and supportive environment.
Think about the community of women in soccer. How have the women you've met affected your life? Have you made long-term friends? Met your partner? Celebrated together? Lost teammates over time?I’ve made lifelong friends. Since moving the SD and not knowing anyone but a few family members, these are my only friends here in SD.
Did you have female athlete role models in your life as a young person? If not, did you have male athlete role models? Who were those people, whether specific to you or famous for their sports?Not really, In high school I just tried to stay in shape, I was a dancer...plus played rec softball and basketball.
Did you have any challenges gaining access to soccer (or sports in general) at any point in your life because of being female? For any other reason?It was just not really seen...in my small town.
Did you have any women in your life who played recreational soccer? If yes, who?Later years on Kauai...fellow coaches that were younger than me played it and encouraged playing.
When thinking about the Global Goals listed above, which one means the most to you and why?Goal 3- in all aspects of life you must have your health!!
What are example of ways that you make an effort to support any/all of these Global Goals in your everyday life, whether personally or professionally?I promote good health & well being your n my business, my family and my social life! I also encourage equality daily, especially to my daughter that is 17 this year...as well as to both my son’s.
What are you most excited about for this trip?I get to play with women that love soccer, supported by my family on a truly remarkable journey in a beautiful and almost untouched area of the world.
What are you most concerned about for this trip?Staying warm!!
